7. Kasprowy Wierch Cable Car

Reaching an impressive altitude of 1,987 meters, Kasprowy Wierch is one of the most famous peaks in Zakopane. Instead of a gruelling full-day hike, families can take the modern cable car straight to the summit. The ride is suspended high above the valley floor, offering a thrilling 15-minute journey that older children and teens absolutely boast about. Once at the peak, you are greeted with sweeping, dramatic views into both Poland and Slovakia. There are safe, paved stone paths near the observatory for walking, allowing you to experience true high alpine environments safely. 8. Winter Sleigh Rides (Kulig)

If you visit Zakopane while there is snow on the ground, a traditional Polish "Kulig" is an essential mountain experience. These are horse-drawn wooden sleigh rides that take you deep into snow-covered valleys, away from the bustling city lights. Often taking place in the late afternoon or early evening, the paths are illuminated by flaming torches, creating a truly cinematic and unforgettable atmosphere for kids and adults alike. Most operators bundle the ride with a stop at a traditional forest bonfire where you can warm up, roast snacks, and listen to live, spirited highlander music in the snowy woods.

Although it requires a short drive or bus ride outside of Zakopane to reach the trailhead (Wierch Poroniec), Rusinowa Polana offers arguably the most breathtaking, unobstructed views of the high Tatras with the least amount of hiking effort. 14. Dolina Białego (Białego Valley)

A slightly narrower and more adventurous feeling path than the main valleys, but incredibly beginner-friendly. This beautiful, forested gorge runs closely alongside the cascading Biały stream. Children will be captivated by the small wooden bridges crisscrossing the fast-flowing water and the sheer dolomite cliffs towering directly above the path. Because of the deep forest canopy and the cold mountain stream, it is an excellent choice for a shaded, refreshing hike during hot summer days.
